About Life Sail
"Providing hope to the underprivileged and disadvantaged through the character-building discipline of sailing and seamanship."

Life Sail was established to promote a character-building experience through sailing & seamanship.

We educate students of all ages in theory and practice, in small craft sailing along with dinghy handling equipped with outboard engines.

Life Sail is a non-profit 501(c)(3) registered organization.
LifeSail's Flagship 'Kimberly'
LifeSail's Flagship 'Kimberly'

A little background on "Kimberly" is that she was named after Kimberly Nicole, who was born June 29, 1980, with severe mental retardation caused by my RH negative blood which had created antibodies against her RH positive blood.  In spite of Kim's disorder, which was diagnosed as Cerebral Palsy, she was a pretty and delightful girl who, although she could never walk, talk, or even feed herself, was almost always smiling, laughing and winning the heart of anyone she met.  Gary and I married when Kimberly was 3 years old and he legally adopted her and was a loving and caring father to our "special angel."  Kimmy died at the age of 8 1/2 on December 11, 1988, after a long struggle with pneumonia. We believe Kimmy was a special blessing from God.  She taught us so much without ever saying a word, and gave so much to our family without even being able to sit up on her own.  Gary bought the CF 37 and named it after Kimberly in early 1989.

We can't tell you how much it means to us that "Kimberly" is now part of your wonderful program!

Sandy & Gary Winton

The yacht was purchased by the Winton Family in the 80's, and then called ‘Everjoy’. After sailing & successfully racing her for many years, the Gary & Sandy decided to donate the vessel to OCC.

The founder of LifeSail, Matt Schulz, actually met the family around 1980's professionally & sailed on her around that time.

Two owners later Mr. Chan bought this vessel than called 'Borne 4 Pleasure' which he then decided to donate to LifeSail Inc.

Several LifeSail Kids were invited to the US Optimist Nationals Championship, which took place at the CBYC in San Pedro, CA. LifeSail used her as a 'Hotel' for the young skippers.

That is where we reunited with the Winton Family.
