Regarding my son Carlos
LifeSail - Summer Camp 2007
Dear Matt,
I would like to thank you for letting my son Carlos join the sailing lesson this summer. It was a new experience for him and I was surprised when I saw the video. I cannot believe that he can sail and race. I saw some positive changes in my son during and after these sailing lessons. He seems to be more responsible and not just cooped up in front of the computer or his video games. He also grew some muscles in his biceps. Once again thank you for this wonderful experience and we are looking forward to next summer for the sailing lessons.

Dear L I F E S A I L,
I would like to thank you for accepting my son into your summer sailing program.
Hopefully he has learned basic skills and discipline that can be the foundation of the independence, confidence and exhilaration sailing brings to our lives. It is great to see the personal growth in a kid over just a few weeks.
The program is wonderfully balanced. It covers all the fundamentals in an orderly step-by-step fashion and also provides interesting and creative opportunities for the kids. One day they design and make sails from trash bags and then sail with them. They go out on a scavenger hunt gathering things like sand from Mother’s Beach (5 points), grass from the Park (5 points), a crab (5 points) or a jellyfish (bonus 15 points). Another day they had Fun Racing: When tacking the sailor had to get out of the cockpit and run around the mast….and on the downwind run they were to secure their mainsheet and then hang off the stern and steer their boat by shifting their weight as they are towed behind their boat. What Fun !!!
It is wonderful to see the spirit of friendly competition develop as the kids sail to their limits and even if they capsize they will right themselves, bail out their boats and continue. I saw one kid do this 3 times in one race. He was the fastest bailer I have ever seen !!!
Thank You LifeSail for giving my son and all the kids a summer they will never forget.
Sincerely,
